Our Beliefs
We Believe In God
St. Paul Lutheran Melbourne acknowledges that the one true God is triune in nature—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—three co-equal and co-eternal persons in one Godhead. We further believe the Holy Spirit calls, gathers, sanctifies and unifies the Christian church and preserves it in faith with Jesus Christ.

We Believe In Faith
Faith is the relationship given us by the Holy Spirit to trust in God, to love boldly as Jesus loved us and to open ourselves and our gifts to generously serve others no matter their faith, their race, their social standing, their lifestyle, their life experiences.
We Believe In Communion
We believe that in the Sacrament the crucified and risen Christ is Present, giving his true body and blood as food and drink. Communicants receive not only bread and wine, but also the same body and blood of Christ that was given for us on the cross. This real presence is a mystery.
About Martin Luther
Martin Luther was a professor of theology at Wittenberg University who recognized significant differences between what he understood from scripture and the practices of the Roman Catholic church at that time. In October of 1517, he posted a theological challenge, titled “95 Thesis” on the door of Schlosskirche (Castle Church) at Wittenberg University. This challenge began what is today known as “The Reformation” and created a new branch of Christianity. The Lutheran Church today continues to serve God and spread the Gospel in line with Luther’s beliefs: grace alone, faith alone, scripture alone.
